Western-Vermont Humidity

The other effect of the hot lake is incredible precipitation year-round in the area of the state west of the Green Mountains. Tomoko and the Underground Kingdom (Studio Ghibli, 1987)

Tomoko and her two best friends, Kenta and Mei, embark on an adventure to explore the Madahodo Caverns in Pebble Shore National Park, known for its mysterious and eerie atmosphere. The trio is accompanied by their magical cat, Taro, who can communicate with them through telepathy.

As they venture deeper into the caverns, Tomoko and her friends stumble upon a hidden kingdom of mushroom people, who have lived underground for centuries. The mushroom people, led by their queen, welcome the visitors with open arms and show them their magnificent underground world filled with glowing mushrooms and sparkling gems.

However, Tomoko and her friends soon realize that the mushroom kingdom is in danger as a group of human miners have been drilling through the caverns, destroying their homes and livelihood. With the help of Taro and the mushroom people, Tomoko and her friends must find a way to stop the mining and protect the underground kingdom.

As they journey through the caverns, Tomoko and her friends learn valuable lessons about the importance of preserving nature and the environment. They also discover that the mushroom people are not so different from humans and that everyone deserves respect and protection.

In the end, Tomoko and her friends successfully put an end to the mining and become heroes in the eyes of the mushroom people. As they bid farewell to their new friends and head back to the surface, they vow to spread the message of conservation and preservation to others and to always remember their incredible adventure in the underground kingdom.
